Our Origin

Our Origin

Origin of Nkah Nikwi Ni Mankon

In 1986, an elite of Mankon, Mrs. Cecilia Wara conceived a great idea. This great idea was for educated Mankon women to come together as a group, to empower themselves better and improve the status of vulnerable women and girls in our communities to alleviate poverty.

This credible idea was welcomed by other Mankon women who came together in a meeting at the Old Presbyterian Church Azire hall Mankon and gave birth to Nkah Nikwi Ni Mankon, which means “The Light of Maturity of Mankon”.

This idea has been nurtured, improved and updated to bring Nkah Nikwi to the status of an NGO today where the women innovate to empower and support needy women, girls, orphans and vulnerable children.

Nkah Nikwi has been appreciated by many especially His majesty, Fon S.A.N ANgwafor III of Mankon, The latter, through his largess allocated a piece of land to Nkah where stands today the Magnificent Nkah Nikwi Ni Mankon empowerment center, on the hills of Ngomgham, Mankon, North West Region -Cameroon.

Nkah Nikwi women have made enormous sacrifices in time with their meager salaries to attain their objectives. The Nkah Emblem which is “The great Nkah Nikwi woman with the light on one hand and a pen and book on the other” shows exactly the mother of humanity who is the light of the family and community. We the Nkah women are educated to change the world.

Nkah Nikwi has grown into many branches all over the National territory and Diaspora, namely: Mankon (mother branch and headquarters), Yaounde, Douala, Kumba, Buea, Limbe, DMV Maryland USA, Minnesota USA and DC Metro
